A Belated "Hello World" - in time for a challenge

Wow, I'm doing this! I have actually set up my site at last, even though I've been writing for a little while before. anniegreens's WeblogPomo challenge was my motivation to finally get started.

Seeing as I spent the entirety of the first day figuring out how Eleventy works, I may as well talk about that. It took me upwards of 12 hours from first opening up the Eleventy docs to getting the site deployed properly. Needless to say, web development has never been my strongest suit.

Twelve hours? Isn't Eleventy supposed to be easy??

Oh, absolutely. It was pretty easy. At least compared to some other attempts I've made of setting up a webpage. Maybe I am just slow like that. After all, I never was able to take to things like competitive programming and what have you. At least not in the traitional sense.

Well if I'm not a slow coder, is there just something inherently difficult about weaving your way around documentation?

The truth is just... web development is hard. And no amount of video tutorials or quick start guides are going to change that. Even if the video claims you'll have a site in five minutes, in reality you'll be pausing for several minutes every few seconds.

It seems as though the only way out is through. You gotta thoroughly read the docs, get your hands dirty, and fake it until you make it.
